Brian Clark of CopyBlogger.com made a a post today, You’re Boring, in reply to Seth Godin’s post You’re Boring. That sounds odd, but its true ;D. Both of these guys make over six figures per year online, Seth Godin is a multi-millionaire. Brian Clark monetizes his blog CopyBlogger.com by selling his product the premium Thesis Wordpress Theme(he is partners with the coder of it), which shows the giant profit potential of monetizing your blog with your own digital product (software in this case). Seth Godin created Squidoo.com, and many other remarkable ideas, products and services.

I think it helps to not be boring but its not THE key to success, though to really dominate your niche market it helps(which should be your long term goal). I think the real key is Quality Content + Marketing. As long as your content is quality and solves a real problem, and you market it well to the right audience, you’ll attain a comfortable level of success.

Bill Gates is kind of boring and he is one of the richest people in the world (I think #1 at the moment).

Aaron Wall of SEO Book is kind of boring(at least his voice is in his videos ;) , but he probably makes more money than anyone in the SEO training niche. He banks off his professionalism, his great business model, his massive amount of high quality content, his passion about his topic, and his marketing efforts.

I say- Passion + Comedy + Great Info + Great Headlines = Not Boring = Interesting = Trust = Sales And Signups = Money.

To be interesting, talk about things that people actually want to learn about, like how they can improve their life in some way. Teach them a useful skill that you are better at than most people- like how to make more money, how to write better, how to build a better blog, how to cure their acne or diabetes, how to lose weight, how to play a game well, etc.

A high level of enthusiasm in your writing or videos is also important and really helps with not being boring, but don’t fake it. Be Real. People know a faker when they see one, and it will immediately make them lose interest in you. You can’t build long term success by being fake. Gary Vaynerchuk, Frank Kern, and Eben Pagan all make a point to be very real and enthusiastic in their videos and writings, and they all make millions of dollars each year selling their information products (Gary sells a book besides all the wine he sell). Their enthusiasm rubs off on their readers/viewers/fans, and it really helps to build trust, which is so key in the sales process.

Be Cool. If your visitors don’t think you are cool, they aren’t going to come back. “Cool” is a pretty abstract term, and whats cool changes all the time, but basically things that are cool are ‘remarkable’ and attractive to their target audience, and its something you kind of just get a sense for after you’ve lived in this world long enough. As Frank Kern says “Stack The Cool.” By giving away great information and content, being confident, and being passionate about your topic, you will have a pretty easy time building interest in your blog and products.

Do things better than everyone else in your niche, and you will get noticed (with a bit of marketing).

Don’t speak to your customers through your blog or business in the form of an impersonal corporate voice, it will make your audience lose interest immediately. Speak to them with your own voice to pull them in, and if you are interesting and give them value they will become your fan and buy your products, sign up for your email list, and become a long term customer of yours. The two most important words in online copywriting and blogging are “you” and “because” according to copyblogger. You should use these two words a lot, because the word “you” makes people feel like you are talking directly to them(people don’t to be thought of as part of a mass), and the word “because” is important because you always need to explain why your subject is important to know about and how knowing about said subject will improve your reader’s or customer’s life.

Just some ideas to keep in mind when blogging, developing your products, and making your landing pages. Do you have anything to add to this? Leave a comment below :) .
